Pangandaran Nature Reserve is located in Pananjung Village, Pangandaran District, Pangandaran Regency, West Java Province. If you go there from Pangandaran City center, then it is only around 10 minutes’ drive. The nature reserve has 2 gates: the West Gate at the West Beach and the East Gate at the East Beach.
The entrance ticket to Pangandaran Nature Reserve is priced IDR 20,000 per person. To get the service of a tour guide, you have to pay another IDR 125,000. The nature reserve is opened for public every day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. The best time to go there is early in the morning, because it gives you a lot of time to explore the whole area, which is very large.
There are a lot of plants and trees at Pangandaran Nature Reserve, so the air is cool and fresh. There are also places for visitors to seat at several spots in the area whenever you get tired of walking. You can enjoy the scenery and even watch some animals from a close distance. Among the animals who live here are deer, monkeys and various species of birds. You can also find some rare plants here, like Rafflesia flower.
There are also several historical sites within the area of Pangandarang Nature Reserve. Among them are the Japanese Cave, Parat Cave, Rengganis Cave, and Batu Kalde Site. You can also visit the beaches, which is located at the west and east sides of the nature reserve. At one of the beaches, you can see the Viking Lagos ship which sank in 2016. The beaches are also very nice places to watch the sunset.
